Prickly Moses

Prickly Moses 3

We have seen plenty of Prickly Moses (Acacia pulchella) around Perth recently – in Kings Park, Bold Park and at Minim Cove. It’s flowering season starts next month, but you can already see the flower buds on their long stalks, looking like tiny golf balls on long tees.

Those long thorns give this wattle its common name, which is reportedly a corruption of “Prickly Mimosa”. The thorns can stab right through denim jeans into your leg.
