Quandong 1

A few days back, we stopped to look at the Quandong (Santalum acuminatum) trees growing in the remnant bushland beside the Swan River in Mosman Park. At a quick glance they don’t have much to look at – plenty of grey-green leaves, but no flowers or fruit.

However on closer inspection, we found that there are a few of the distinctive Quandong flowers hidden among the leaves. This one even has an ant busily doing its thing, helping to ensure that there will be some baby quandongs in the future.
