Stinkwood

Stinkwood 2

We noticed these pretty red and yellow pea flowers the last few times that we were in Kings Park, Perth. They grow on the spindly, drooping shrub below. It has the rather unfortunate name of Stinkwood (Jacksonia sternbergiana) – and the wood does reportedly have an unpleasant odour when cut. You can also see this plant at Bold Park and in remnant bushland and nature gardens in various parts of Perth.
