Firewood Banksia

Firewood Banksia

Another plant that we saw plenty of in the bushland of Bold Park (and in many other areas of bushland recently) was Firewood Banksia. This must be the most common Banksia species in Perth and is a rather straggly looking tree. But the flowers are amazing. And the name gives a good hint of what the early settlers did with Firewood Banksia – they literally “chopped him up for firewood”.
